“You are a fool if you cast someone who has no talent because you cannot hypnotize an actor into being great, or even good. If he’s no good, there is nothing you can do about it. So, I looked at a lot of movies and things that Rob Pattinson had done and then I spoke to him and was completely convinced that he would be great in the movie. It’s strange how you judge an actor. With someone like Rob, he’s very young and hasn’t done all that much and three of his movies are Twilight movies, so it’s sort of the same thing. And so I looked at a movie called Little Ashes in which he played Salvador Dali with a Spanish accent. It was interesting that he would do that because it’s a strange role and not the kind of role that someone who wants to be a big movie star wants to play. And, in fact, Rob is very surprised that he is a movie star; he really is an actor.” - David Cronenberg
